This server lets an AI assistant read my FreshRSS feeds through FreshRSS’s Fever-compatible API. The assistant can list subscriptions and feed groups, fetch unread items, read the items from one feed or a set of items by ID, and mark items or whole feeds as read or unread. That is enough to ask for a summary of what’s unread and then clear it.
It works with Claude Desktop, Cline or any MCP client. You give it your FreshRSS URL, username and password, and API access has to be enabled on the instance. The README suggests a dedicated FreshRSS account for this.
I wrote it on 25 March 2025 as part of a run of small MCP servers. In May 2025 I came back once to tighten up the API client and item filtering, and I haven’t touched it since.
